The Accounting Students Organization (ASO) is a San Francisco State University based organization founded in 1970 by students for the students. ASO’s main goal is to assist students in becoming aware of the challenges they may encounter in the business world. ASO coordinates events including technical presentations, workshops, and office visits, and offers members the opportunity to meet professionals from public accounting, taxation, internal auditing, management accounting, industry, and government. ASO is affiliated with the Institute of Management Accounting (IMA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). ASO also works closely with the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). ASO encourages its members to become members of the IMA, IIA, ISACA, and AGA student chapters to attend professional functions, network, and find a mentor.

Objectives:

  • Create and expand networking opportunities within the organization and outside the organization.

  • Provide leadership activities and networking opportunities to promote both professional development and self-development

  • Provide a community for members to learn and grow both professionally and personally
